Conflicting reports are obtained regarding HSDPA capability of X800 especially in the US. The time is therefore proper to put the M800 to test. I recorded download speeds using M800 as modem and connecting it to laptop via USB cable. Download speed was recorded from www.speedtest.net using the nearest server to my location ,in this case Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A couple of results are attached below :

I also attempted recording direct download speed on the phone without connecting it to PC using www.dslreports.com/mspeed. There is a marked discrepency in speed when the M800 is directly tested (without connecting to PC ) as seen below . Please click image to hava a full view.

Number of downloads: 72

In conclusion , I have not an ounce of doubt in my mind that the M800 is HSDPA capable at least up to 2000kb/s. I would love to hear if download speeds close to 3.6 Mb/s , which is the maximum advertised for this phone has been acheived .

Secondly, direct download speed test using mobile speed sites may not give a true reflection of download speed at least from this part of the globe simply because of the distance involved. I tried googling for mobile speeed test sites in Asia Pacific region but in vain. Any idea?

Cheers.

Good to know that it does HSDPA. I noticed that using dslreports.com, your print-screen shows 3G icon only on top of it. May I know that when using speedtest.net, and you got that >1000kb/s, does the icon show 3G or H? Or is for M800, regardless whether you are getting 3G or H, it still shows 3G? My TyTN II shows H when it's getting HSDPA

The M800 clearly shows H when connection is HSDPA. When left idle it reverts back to 3G . That was the time the print screen was done showing 3G although please allow me to reassure you that during the time the speed test was done using dslreports.com connection was HSDPA. I suppose this is the intelligent characteristic of HSDPA.

Again using speedtest.net the icon was H during active transfer of data and 3G during idle phase.
