George, it's been a week now. Hope u won't forget to post your review after a week's use. I am using a Kaiser now, just like u before, & wanna move to m800, mainly because of the VGA screen, but I'm really nervous about parting with my kaiser and buying M800. Kaiser is so beautiful but I want VGA screen bad. Do u not regret at all moving from Kaiser to M800?

I wanna follow-up on the issues you raised:1) After a few more uses of the GPS, how do u feel about it especially about the fix-time from cold-start? Is it still worse than Kaiser?
2) Is the crackling noise a cause for concern, like maybe an onset of a speaker failure?
3) when u say the camera has memory leak, do u mean, after closing it, it still doesn't release the RAM it was utilizing?
4) does the screen alignment problem crop up again after some time?
5) Are u able to get used to the PITA-front touch-buttons?

To etenm800, RichR, antognio, please post your thoughts on the m800 too

Also, if you have time, can u answer the questions I (Helmy) posted on etenblog.com, here:
http://www.etenblog....0-in-the-house/

Tariq's writing a review on it, & probably answering some of the questions I posted, but I'm also looking for different/multiple opinions/ answers

Additional questions I have:
37) Does it have auto-configuration for internet/mms?
38) How is the battery performance when using Direct push?
39) What's the Spb benchmark index for m800?
40) Is the screen readable under direct sunlight?

Thank you in advance

1. Dont regret moving Kaiser -> M800
2. Cracking noise is I think a driver issue - doesnt happen very often at all. Defo (IMHO) not hardware failure
3. The only time ive had a out of memory error is after using camera... not really done enough tests to prove it tho...
4. No problems whatsoever with alignment. Just when I align screen it seems a bit gnarly (ie, needs 2/3 attempts)
5. Slowly getting used to buttons

36. It does have autoconfig for GPRS. I think it does for MMS, but I dont use MMS (i email photos for free instead!)
37. BAttery seems very comparable to Kaiser, ie, crap! after a 8 hour day with push email on, its down to about 50%

39. Dont have SPB benchmark... so dont know
40. LOL ROTFL - I live in London, so im unlikely to see any sunlight, direct or indirect for months yet... seriously, it doesnt blacken under a spotlight like the tosh g900 did, so I think its transflective. Not expecting any problems with that, and as I say, I live in the UK, so not really an issue for me...

helmy,
i'll try to respond to some of your qestions aswell,

5) can you do battery test? I’m especially worried because of the VGA screen
I think the battery does not last more than 3 hours in intensive use (wi-fi on and screen on all the time)

6) how long does the screen take to change to landscape mode after sliding out the keyboard?
it start to switch instantly but it finish changin after ~2 seconds

7) does the qwerty keyboard has PgUp & PgDn abilities? Useful when scrolling internet
i did not found any

11) Is there a keyboard shortcut to go home/end of a sentence?
i did not found any

13) Does it have smart-dialling? iè in dialpad, u can use the keypad like T9 keypad, & it’ll search names for all combinations of the keypad numbers
yes, its great

16) can you run benchmark on videos using tcpmp?
This is the bigest drawback of this phone IMHO (and i can bet it is the same with all VGA eten devices from x500+ untill now).
Having a VGA display consumes almost all CPU resources on this device. Even after i tried to tweak almost every parameter available in tcmp i still cannot manage more that 50% on a usual divx movie (~500x300 resolution), wich means unwatchable (big skips).
While my friend have an X500 with qVGA display, he can watch some online wmv9 tv shows in perfect condition while i only get horrible, unwatchable framerate (we are both using WM6 (rom updated for his device) and TCMP. The answer is that displaying vga images leave too little juice for decoding video.
If u are really planing to use your next device for movie watching, i would wait for V900 (no keyboard) or its keyboard brother however it will be called. I will surely switch to V900 as soon as it will be reviewed, benchmarked (the chip in V900 is rated to encode/decode 30fps video), or for the Sony Erricsson X1 in autumn.

17) Is the Video camera quality ok?
the pictures have a strange watercollor effect caused probably by the poor noise reduction algorithm. its a pitty because otherwise the camera would be usable

18) Does the camera take pictures fast?
yep, pretty fast, and i actualy think it's poor light capability is ok

19) Are there LED Notifications for sms/mms received/ missed calls?
yes

21) Are there press+hold assignments for side buttons (the front hard buttons are touch buttons, so, can’t) to launch apps?
only for one of them (left side, the bottom one)

23) At what percentage does battery-low-warning appear? Too low, like 10%, can sometimes mean, before u get a chance to charge, it already runs out & phone is shutdown
30%

24) Is there keyboard backlight setting so that there’s option to lengthen the time before it offs itself?
no, i did not find any

25) can front-facing camera be used to take pictures?
yes

36) Does the SIP keyboard pop-up when slide-out keyboard is in use? Would be annoying if it did
yest, it is annoing, but it dissapear by itself after the first letter pressed

37) Does it have auto-configuration for internet/mms?
yup

39) What's the Spb benchmark index for m800?
same as X800

40) Is the screen readable under direct sunlight?
yup, its the best screen i have ever seen

other toughs:

i dont have any chipping problem after a week

iGo works great (a little bit sllow but not when guiding, but only when dragging the map usualy)

64 RAM is not a problem at all, is more than enough actualy, it's the slow CPU that its drawing it back (slow for VGA, otherwise it is not that slow, but this chip was made in 2003 anyway...)

call quality is not bad, but it could be better (not the gsm module, but the phone speaker and also the loud spaker are not best quality)

touch buttons does not work right at all. The most curios thing is that i can only answer a call with touching the screen, because the answer touch button is still loocked at that time ?!?!

i cannot make mobile justice to work

i dont know how to change pool size because there is no cooked rom for m800 yet

there is no torch light software (as it was stated on some websites before launch)

another one (pretty important in IMHO)
This phone does only wake up when you press power button. It does not wake up when touching the screen, when sliding the keyboard out, or any other action, but only on power button. I really hope that a rom update would change this. I read that other etens behave the same aswell, but my A701 was waking up on touching the screen, and it was much better

Thanks George for your responses. Your responses seem mostly positive (except battery and camera), so, that’s a relief. But even for the battery- 8-hours, with Push email on, and it’s only down to 50%, is not so bad at all. With Kaiser, even with no push email, it can go down to 50%.

If you have time, appreciate if you can answer the rest of my questions in etenblog.com website. If you didn’t get a chance to see the questions, here they are:

1) Does it have auto-call recording? (you can use AudioNotes 2.5 to test)
2) Does it have good contacts management? eg a) save into existing contacts, B) sms contacts details to other phones, c) save contacts into sim
3) Can it send pictures direct to spaces (Microsoft blogging website) using the Pictures and Videos app?
4) Is the quick GPS app (download satellite data) useful, ie helps in fixing the satellite faster?
5) can you do battery test? I’m especially worried because of the VGA screen
6) how long does the screen take to change to landscape mode after sliding out the keyboard?
7) does the qwerty keyboard has PgUp & PgDn abilities? Useful when scrolling internet
U did mention that your T-Mobile doesn’t have 3G yet, but if, by chance u got to use somebody else’s AT&T line, can u test the HSDPA speed using both dslreports.com on the phone, & speedtest.net on the laptop/PC(tethered using USB or bluetooth)
9) This is very important- it having VGA screen means we can zoom out Excel files and still can read the text. However, with both WM phones I used, Excel doesn’t remember my last zoom level. So, I had to re-zoom everytime. Does it have this problem too?
10) How good is the Bluetooth setting management?
11) Is there a keyboard shortcut to go home/end of a sentence?
12) Do the contact-photos appear in incoming call, outgoing calls, dialpad last call, sms, e-mails and mms?
13) Does it have smart-dialling? iè in dialpad, u can use the keypad like T9 keypad, & it’ll search names for all combinations of the keypad numbers
14) how reliable is the internet sharing using either bluetooth or usb?
15) how good is the quality of stereo bluetooth when listening to MP3’s?
16) can you run benchmark on videos using tcpmp?
17) Is the Video camera quality ok?
18) Does the camera take pictures fast?
19) Are there LED Notifications for sms/mms received/ missed calls?
20) how good are the softkey assignments eg sms should have ‘new sms’ softkey instead of for example 4 key presses just to create new sms. Also, calendar softkey should have ‘edit’
21) Are there press+hold assignments for side buttons (the front hard buttons are touch buttons, so, can’t) to launch apps?
22) Do contacts show the contacts’ call history?
23) At what percentage does battery-low-warning appear? Too low, like 10%, can sometimes mean, before u get a chance to charge, it already runs out & phone is shutdown
24) Is there keyboard backlight setting so that there’s option to lengthen the time before it offs itself?
25) can front-facing camera be used to take pictures?
26) Is there a search function in sms, ie something which makes it easy to find text in past sms/ emails (sender/ to etc) just by typing the first few letters?
27) How good is the 3G video-calling quality?
28) Does it get warm when running too many programs?
29) Is it slow during contacts ‘matching’, ie searching for names
30) How good is the ‘Save As’ feature? some WM phones don’t separate SD card from main memory folders
32) Is it still slow to load big Word files?
33) Is there a ringtone profile, that when there is an appointment, it automaticaly sets phone to vibrate mode?
34) Can you download emails from company’s Microsoft Exchanger Server? and can you call-up company address book from within Pocket outlook using search? How reliable is the Push Mail feature?
35) Can it accept vcard (contacts details) sent from other phones?
36) Does the SIP keyboard pop-up when slide-out keyboard is in use? Would be annoying if it did
37) Does it have auto-configuration for internet/mms?
38) How is the battery performance when using Direct push?
39) What's the Spb benchmark index for m800?
40) Is the screen readable under direct sunlight?
41) How’s the call quality when on speakerphone? On my TyTN II, the other side always complains that they can’t hear me clearly, so, basically speakerphone on TyTN II is useless

Thanks townkat for your responses. You also seem to skip on some of my questions. If you have time, appreciate if you can answer the remaining ones (see above).

On your responses, glad that there are many positive responses. However, I want to respond on the negative ones.

5) can you do battery test? I’m especially worried because of the VGA screen
I think the battery does not last more than 3 hours in intensive use (wi-fi on and screen on all the time)
Your response contradicts George’s. He gets 8 hours with push email on, and that reduces his battery to only 50%. Yours runs out in just 3 hours?
6) how long does the screen take to change to landscape mode after sliding out the keyboard?
it start to switch instantly but it finish changin after ~2 seconds
Disappointing. This is the same as my TyTN II. It gets so annoying that I have to wait 2 seconds for the screen to stabilize

I will surely switch to V900 as soon as it will be reviewed, benchmarked (the chip in V900 is rated to encode/decode 30fps video), or for the Sony Erricsson X1 in autumn.
This is disappointing. I was hoping that M800 could at least be better than my TyTN II, which is so bad in terms of video performance. As you said, phones with lower resolution perform so much better. My old Loox T830 with square screen (240x240 resolution) plays video seamlessly. You said you alreadytweaked the parameter. Just to confirm. Have you tried GDI? On my TyTN II, for a DivX video, with Direct draw, I get Average Speed of 36%, but with GDI, I get 51%.
17) Is the Video camera quality ok?
the pictures have a strange watercollor effect caused probably by the poor noise reduction algorithm. its a pitty because otherwise the camera would be usable
Disappointing. When will we ever good video camera on a WM phone?

Here are my comments on your other thoughts:

call quality is not bad, but it could be better (not the gsm module, but the phone speaker and also the loud spaker are not best quality)
Hopefully it’s not so bad

touch buttons does not work right at all. The most curios thing is that i can only answer a call with touching the screen, because the answer touch button is still loocked at that time ?!?!
the touch buttons are beginning to sound like the biggest jokes on a WM phone

i cannot make mobile justice to work
I also use Mobile Justice. Can you try Sprite Terminator instead? I also read about a similar app just a few days back, but I can't find the link now. Hope the alternatives work

i dont know how to change pool size because there is no cooked rom for m800 yet
You don't need a cooked ROM to change the pool size. Just the original ROM. You can download the ROM from this post: http://eten-users.eu...hp?showforum=50
or the direct link is: ftp://support@suppor...21AE892D_XP.EXE

let us know if changing the pool size improves the performance of your m800

there is no totch light software (as it was stated on some websites before launch)
but can the light help when taking pictures in low-light conditions?

another one (pretty important in IMHO)
This phone does only wake up when you press power button. It does not wake up when touching the screen, when sliding the keyboard out, or any other action, but only on power button. I really hope that a rom update would change this. I read that other etens behave the same aswell, but my A701 was waking up on touching the screen, and it was much better
Both my WM phones (Loox T830 and TyTN II) don’t wake up when touching the screen. Why would you need it to do that anyway? It’ll wreak havoc if it’s in your pocket and you accidentally press all kinds of things, like calling people in random. But turning on when sliding-out the keyboard should have been there. My TyTN II does it. However, I don’t really mind if it didn’t. In fact I prefer it didn’t, since, on my TyTN II, there was no locking mechanism, and sometimes, I accidentally slide it out, and as usual, when the screen is turned on, and it’s in my pocket, all things get pressed. Just yesterday, I accidentally called a person for 19 minutes :(

Thank you

You are welcome... always happy to propergate fanboyism of WM phones :)

If you have time, appreciate if you can answer the rest of my questions in etenblog.com website. If you didn’t get a chance to see the questions, here they are:

1) Does it have auto-call recording? (you can use AudioNotes 2.5 to test)

Dont know.

2) Does it have good contacts management? eg a) save into existing contacts, B) sms contacts details to other phones, c) save contacts into sim

Dont know

3) Can it send pictures direct to spaces (Microsoft blogging website) using the Pictures and Videos app?

Dont know

4) Is the quick GPS app (download satellite data) useful, ie helps in fixing the satellite faster?

There is a quick fix app (epheris date?) , but SIRF is so good that I dont need it... it really helped on Kaiser. The fixes are good and quick (usually). Ive suceeded in getting a fix on a moving train in urban conditions. Thats good GPS :). HAving said that, the data is up to date, but i havent testing with/without.

5) can you do battery test? I’m especially worried because of the VGA screen

Like I said, the battery life seems identical to Kaiser, even with the VGA goodness. I think it uses a Li Polymer battery which is a new tech I believe.

6) how long does the screen take to change to landscape mode after sliding out the keyboard?

Within 2 secs. Same as Kaiser.

7) does the qwerty keyboard has PgUp & PgDn abilities? Useful when scrolling internet

HAvent seen one. DOesnt Space bar do next page?

U did mention that your T-Mobile doesn’t have 3G yet, but if, by chance u got to use somebody else’s AT&T line, can u test the HSDPA speed using both dslreports.com on the phone, & speedtest.net on the laptop/PC(tethered using USB or bluetooth)

That must have been someone else - im using TMobile UK. Not done a speed test yet.

9) This is very important- it having VGA screen means we can zoom out Excel files and still can read the text. However, with both WM phones I used, Excel doesn’t remember my last zoom level. So, I had to re-zoom everytime. Does it have this problem too?

Dont know

10) How good is the Bluetooth setting management?

Same as KAiser, standard WM fare. Fine for my use. Only used it to BT files from PC -> eten.

11) Is there a keyboard shortcut to go home/end of a sentence?

Not that im aware of

12) Do the contact-photos appear in incoming call, outgoing calls, dialpad last call, sms, e-mails and mms?

Yes (incoming), yes (outgoing), no (last call). yes (sms) not sure (mms)

13) Does it have smart-dialling? iè in dialpad, u can use the keypad like T9 keypad, & it’ll search names for all combinations of the keypad numbers

YEs, works very well. No crappy delay like pre-kaiser phones

14) how reliable is the internet sharing using either bluetooth or usb?

Not tried it yet, expecting it to be same as Kaiser

15) how good is the quality of stereo bluetooth when listening to MP3’s?

DOnt have the kit to test.

16) can you run benchmark on videos using tcpmp?

Sorry, dont have time today

17) Is the Video camera quality ok?

Hmmm... not great, comparable to other phone cams

18) Does the camera take pictures fast?

Quite slow to start camera app, reasonable after its opened

19) Are there LED Notifications for sms/mms received/ missed calls?

YEs

20) how good are the softkey assignments eg sms should have ‘new sms’ softkey instead of for example 4 key presses just to create new sms. Also, calendar softkey should have ‘edit’

Not too good... same as Kaiser.

21) Are there press+hold assignments for side buttons (the front hard buttons are touch buttons, so, can’t) to launch apps?

Only for record I think

22) Do contacts show the contacts’ call history?

I dont think so

23) At what percentage does battery-low-warning appear? Too low, like 10%, can sometimes mean, before u get a chance to charge, it already runs out & phone is shutdown

about 30% (too high IMHO i think it should be more like 10-15... probly a reg entry to define it tho)

24) Is there keyboard backlight setting so that there’s option to lengthen the time before it offs itself?

Not that ive found

25) can front-facing camera be used to take pictures?

yes

26) Is there a search function in sms, ie something which makes it easy to find text in past sms/ emails (sender/ to etc) just by typing the first few letters?

Not that ive found

27) How good is the 3G video-calling quality?

Not had a chance to try - tmob's charging policy makes video calls more costly than they are worth. Ive never used a video call... on any phone

28) Does it get warm when running too many programs?

Not that ive noticed. Not like the Kaiser, which heats up a bit when doing something power hungry

29) Is it slow during contacts ‘matching’, ie searching for names

No

30) How good is the ‘Save As’ feature? some WM phones don’t separate SD card from main memory folders

Not sure what u mean.

32) Is it still slow to load big Word files?

Not done it

33) Is there a ringtone profile, that when there is an appointment, it automaticaly sets phone to vibrate mode?

Not sure

34) Can you download emails from company’s Microsoft Exchanger Server? and can you call-up company address book from within Pocket outlook using search? How reliable is the Push Mail feature?

I use sherwebs hosted exchange service - i love it! push email == very reliable indeed

35) Can it accept vcard (contacts details) sent from other phones?

Unsure

36) Does the SIP keyboard pop-up when slide-out keyboard is in use? Would be annoying if it did

Yes, but you can d/l nullkb if it annoys you. It hides itself when u press a hardware key

37) Does it have auto-configuration for internet/mms?

YEs, in ETens GPRS utility

38) How is the battery performance when using Direct push?

Been on since 8am this morning (7 hours), with one 20 mile train journey, using GPS on train, with push email on. Its on 80% still

39) What's the Spb benchmark index for m800?

Sorry, dont have time to test. I dont really trust benchmarks anyway, as usually there is one bottleneck slowing everything down... and thats not what is benchmarked. THe device seems fast

40) Is the screen readable under direct sunlight?

Hehehehe i will answer in july/august. Ive heard its not a problem...

41) How’s the call quality when on speakerphone? On my TyTN II, the other side always complains that they can’t hear me clearly, so, basically speakerphone on TyTN II is useless

Not used speakerphone

Thank you in advance

yr welcome...

the questions i skipped is because i dont know their answers,

Your response contradicts George’s. He gets 8 hours with push email on, and that reduces his battery to only 50%. Yours runs out in just 3 hours?

i do not use push email, thats what i get if i keep the screen and wifi working for 3 hours countinuosly

16)
i tried everything, the best performance is obtained using raw framebuffer

17)when v900 will be out, i can bet it will have vga video recording because the chip supports it and thats the reason they moved to 3mp sensor ( i also own an xcut

dv1 phone wich is capable of vga 30fps recording with a 3mp sensor

About changing the rom, there are 2 problems:
the instructions i have found doesn't seem simple at all (i have no experience with rom moding)
the rom in the link is older than the one in my device, what if my device starts to chip if i switch to that rom ? looool

there is no totch light software (as it was stated on some websites before launch)
but can the light help when taking pictures in low-light conditions?

yes, the led are the brightest i've seen (not like real flash, but best of led)

about waking up on screen touching,
i was using windows device locking function with my A701, for me it was way better

can you also put a link to that audionotes that you talk abt ?
also maybe you can find the name of that app like mobile justice

Mobile Justice works perfectly. The device is also able to get a fix inside the house easely. I don't know why but it does not want to work with my first password i tried to use "townkat". It works with longer or shorter passwords, but not with "townkat". It is first time when i install it on a device, unfortunately it was to late when i heard about it for my A701.

OK, back to the peeling problem of the battery cover: I now have an official acknowledgment that ETEN will send me a new battery cover. Great, as I don't have to send the whole device back. Until new problems with the (soon to be) replaced battery cover arise, I consider the peeling problem as solved for now :D

who did you contact for the battery cover, eten direct or where you picked it up from..? As I will soon be doing the same. Also, Clove has a extended battery for the m800 (2400 mah) with a new battery cover. Maybe theres will not chip?! Lol

Contacted ETEN Webshop, they said they're working on getting a replacement cover from ETEN. Nice people there :D (Not to do any advertising, but up to now they handled every request in an appropiate way)

For now, I just suppose ETEN has found a way to produce better quality battery covers, since they did it with the device itself before (no signs of any peeling there...) While its nice to have some more power with the extended battery, for me the looks of these bulky thing appear always ..ahem well I don't like it how the device looks with these ;)

I’m quite concerned about the video performance of M800. M800 has the same specifications as X800 (minus the keyboard). Even though X800 owners also complain about the video performance of X800, I read in X800 forum here, that, without customizing the videos to suit X800, they are able to achieve acceptable TCPMP benchmark. For example, this post here: http://eten-users.eu...showtopic=12707 post #11, which gets average speed of 104.43% which basically means it plays as it should. To townkat, can you test using the same video in the post (simpson xvid video), and see whether you get the same average speed value? If not, maybe, there’s something wrong

There is also a post about optimizing X800: http://eten-users.eu...showtopic=12686 Maybe some of the tricks can also be used with M800

Also, are there anymore feedback to my questions (those which have not been answered yet)? Here’s the list of questions which have not been answered yet:
1) Does it have auto-call recording? (you can use AudioNotes 2.5 to test)
2) Does it have good contacts management? eg
a) save phone numbers into existing contacts,
B) sms contacts details to other phones,
c) save contacts into sim
3) Can it send pictures direct to spaces (Microsoft blogging website) using the Pictures and Videos app?
8 ) What is the HSDPA speed using both dslreports.com on the phone, & speedtest.net on the laptop/PC(tethered using USB or bluetooth)
9) This is very important- it having VGA screen means we can zoom out Excel files and still can read the text. However, with both WM phones I used, Excel doesn’t remember my last zoom level. So, I had to re-zoom everytime. Does it have this problem too?
14) how reliable is the internet sharing using either bluetooth or usb?
15) how good is the quality of stereo bluetooth when listening to MP3’s?
26) Is there a search function in sms, ie something which makes it easy to find text in past sms/ emails (sender/ to etc) just by typing the first few letters?
27) How good is the 3G video-calling quality?
30) How good is the ‘Save As’ feature? some WM phones don’t separate SD card from main memory folders (for this, actually, I found the solution from etenblog.com, here: http://www.etenblog....rd-file-dialog/
32) Is it still slow to load big Word files?
33) Is there a ringtone profile, that when there is an appointment, it automaticaly sets phone to vibrate mode?
34) Outlook/ Exchange Server/ Push Mail:
a) Can you download emails from company’s Microsoft Exchanger Server?
B) can you call-up company address book from within Pocket outlook using search?
c) How reliable is the Push Mail feature? (answered already-Push Mail is good)
35) Can it accept vcard (contacts details) sent from other phones?
39) What's the Spb benchmark index for m800?
41) How’s the call quality when on speakerphone? On my TyTN II, the other side always complains that they can’t hear me clearly, so, basically speakerphone on TyTN II is useless

Thank you in advance

So far I am using the M800 and it's been awesome. I have yet to try video playback but I am running my M800 with an almost clean install (I did the camera AFTER it installed the basic stuff but BEFORE it installed the ETEN applications). In this manner, I would say the M800 is functioning rather smooth.

I thought I would have to do some tweaking like increasing the font cache but it seems that the default setting is 16MB which seems pretty smooth. I have just over 22MB of free stuff after installing my usual suite of applications.

More in my review to come...

haha, i get 242.13% with "fit best" wich ocupy 30% of the screen area and 110.29% "fill screen" wich uses 100% of the screen area on that movie, but that trailer have a 750kbps bitrate while most of movies, for example the bonus monsters - mike's new car have only 472x352 resolution but more than 1500 bitrate, and i only get 50% on that one in "fill screen" mode.
The thing is that the simpson trailer is a perfect movie to "demonstrate" how "good" are the video performance of a device (i really don't understand why that guy demonstrates his device with that irrelevant sample).
Also movie performance decrease if i watch the movie directly trough wifi from my pc hdd (50% on sd card for pixar, 40% from the network)

41) the other guy will hear you great (mic quality/preamp/echo cancelation are really good), but your speakerphone speaker volume and quality are not that great
The thing is, that in call both the speakerphone and the phone speker sound higly overdriven on high volume settings, over the 2nd step (sound like amplification overdrive not speaker overdrive), but on movie for example the speakerphone sound great. Otherwise the phone speaker is lound enough on 1st step volume stetting already, so this is not a problem for normal calling, but it is a problem for speakerphone operation.
