I will see if I can post some pictures of it before.... I SEND IT BACK.
Because that's the only logical decision I can take if a €600 device has this many problems within just 5 days! I hope I'll still be able to get my money back or exchange it for a decent device like an HTC.

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't care about the chipping paint. To me, that's just cosmetic. What's more important to me is that it works as it should. I would be very pissed off if it kept on crashing like what rewila is experiencing. I really hope that it works as it should. Luckily, clove and expansys got their delivery delayed. Although, sorry to say, this is at the expense of rewila and Johny58 who got it earlier and informed us their experiences, however, maybe, if they're as bad as they say it is, I might not buy it at all. rewila and Johny58, do you think m800 is worth buying at all?

In the first 2 pictures you can see that there is hardly any paint left on the joystick. It was covered completely just 4 days ago. Now there's just a bit left on the top:

Here you can see a piece missing from the Windows logo:

And finally here you can already see a bit of a shiny part where te paint is starting to come off:

Coming from a HTC Universal/MDA Pro/Qtek9000 (VGA device), I feel like I'm taking a step backwards from a device that's almost 2,5 years old. So it depends on what you're coming from I guess. I'll be happy going back to my MDA Pro!

I cant beleive this! Maybe this is an isolated situation? Maybe you should try a refund first? Do u have the links to sites where others are having the same problem?

This is so disappointing. I have been looking forward to buy M800 :(
I really want a VGA screen, but there are not many choices out there. And none that have the same specs as M800. Universal is too big. All the i-mates don't have qwerty keyboard. Or maybe I can make do with i-mate 8150, which, even though doesn't have qwerty, at least has a keypad? Although it is not as nice-looking as M800

. It really is nice-looking, don't you think? However, like M800, it's still not available yet. I wish i hadn't desperately needed a phone right now. Otherwise, I'd have waited for it. But if it can materialize before, end of this month, maybe, I might just wait for it

rgd Paint chipping,
yes, I can confirm it also happens on my device, even though I 've only used it about a week. I will attach a photo to this post later this evening.

rgd Java,
I don't play games so I have no clue about Java - if you tell me exactly what you want me to do (probably easiest by PrivateMail) I can check it for you.
@helmy
rgd i-mate 9502
Looks like a great device,
I wish I would have waited until one compares the two...

Don't know yet. - Don't care so much about the paint, but doesn't make me happy either. I am waiting for a bigger SD Card, then I will reconfigure the system and hope there will be no more crashes...

I just sent this info to eten webshop customer service. They asked for a link to the forum with the pictures and I sent it over to them. Maybe they can bubble this up.

I am one of the dutch users of the M800 who had reported the paint problems on the dutch GoT forum. Although I also think that functionality is more important than looks, I cannot accept the fact that my brand new 600 euro phone looks like it has been in use for 2 years. I shiver when I think how it will look like in a month.
The store where I bought it from will exchange my phone for a new one that is coming with the next shipment from E-ten. If the problem remains, I will demand a device from another make. Maybe the Toshiba G900 if they ever will be done with taking the software bugs out properly.
I will link my pictures here as well.

I am moderately happy with the device itself. The screen is nice, but I also have hang-ups. But I keep in mind that it’s a Microsoft OS that’s on there. Every PDA I owned had similar problems. I wonder how E-ten is going to solve this problem if every device has this problem. If all the casings need to be replaced and all the devices need to be send back, then you’re looking at a lot of work that could take months!
The paint scratchings have become worse btw. The white surface underneath is now completely visable.

Been thinking. While waiting for i-mate 9502, maybe I could, in the meantime, buy a second-hand HTC Universal, also a VGA phone. Johny58, do you tweak your Universal with WM6 that's on XDA-developers?
rewila said:
Still got crashes, huh? It's futile, I guess. Also, isn't the 256MB ROM sufficient to install all programs? I don't think moving the programs onto an SD card will solve the crashes problem. It's the phone itself which I think is too unstable
I think before I finally give up having high hopes on M800 being my ultimate phone, I would like to request from you guys who have already bought it (Johny58, rewila, MinPDA, focus) to test cyril's pagepool tweak to increase the RAM for X800 and maybe make it more stable? The steps to do it as per the following link (scroll to post#11 for steps on how to do it):
http://eten-users.eu...showtopic=12511
Thanks guys
