I’ve downloaded the firmware from Eten’s official site and followed the instructions, but the update failed. The message on the screen was as follows: “Transfer failed, the upgrade file may incompatible to your device, please download the file again”. I downloaded again and run the update, but the result was again failure. My device is Eten Glofiish X500+.



I wrote to Eten and look forward to seeing the response.

I can't find it on the site at all now, so maybe they have removed it.

Actually I forgot my usb cable at home, so I haven't tried to update my firmware yet.

2 questions:


1)What is new with the new firmware?


2) When you are installing the new firmware , do you have to reinstall all the programs and data
or you can do a restore from a previous backup file?

I must be doing something wrong, since when I go to eten's site, select Support, then Manuals and software. Then I log in via the boxes on the left side and it responds with my name. Then, in the centre section I select software and X500plus and nothing shows up (except the blurb about the ROM image replacing the existing one).

Got the same problem - "OS Version is not compatible" message during update.
Tried method described in How to Upgrade your device to any language or from WM5 to WM6 and success! The device is alive with 0543 version! Suppose it helps with batery indicator problem: http://eten-users.eu...showtopic=10604

I have WWE 486 and mine updated fine. The ROM 543 update is WM6 Build 18120.0.4...which is really really new.

I've been playing around with it a bit...seems stable enough (for...uh...20 minutes of testing).

I'm not sure if any of the Eten apps were updated. I've checked few versions here and there and they seemed like the same version. I'll try out the bluetooth and various other options and see. BTW, Photo & Videos STILL doesn't show any videos though~ Oh well.

WOOHOO. Eten's bluetooth software has been updated...along with MS's bluetooth stack it seems like.

It connects to all the car hands-free devices I can throw at it (in my company parking lot). It passes signal information correctly as well.

Definitely a huge improvement on this area. No need for JETware.

After some testing, I've found a couple of things -- more of an FYI for other forum members.

a) Eten's support section of the site doesn't seem to like Firefox very much -- it much prefers IE.

B) Eten seems to know which box you've got and will not show you files for another unit. For instance, I have (and registered) an X500. It will show me all the patches, etc. for the X500, but when I select X500Plus, it doesn't show anything at all.

Oh well -- I wonder if we'll see an X500 version of this new ROM.

I just did the update and all went well. Once completed, I restored my system with a ‘system restore’ using SPB back up. When I do a soft reset I get the correct ROM version number on the POST screen however once everything loads, ‘system info’ gives me ‘0486’ as the ROM version. Have I un-done something by doing a system restore?

After installing a new ROM, I recommend installing all your apps again and jusT restoring the PIM portion of your unit. By doing a full system restore you may have over written some Registry values or removed some new entries.
