How to enter into recovery mode:

With G11i / G11i Pro turned off, press and hold VOL. DOWN key and turn on the phone. The splash logo will appear and you should release all keys... "Recovery mode" will appear in the bottom left of the screen.

The actual G11i version does not support 3G because it is MT6513 based. The new version of G11i, based on MT6573, will obviously support 3G. 3G must be used for video calls, but can also allow you to get broadband data connection.

Google maps relies on internet connection, so it's advised to have a 3G connection. If you like G11i, my advice is to wait for the release of the new version. I will support it for a long time because this is for me the best Chinese clone ever built. Great GSM reception, good quality of materials, everything working out of the box... just perfect!

I forgot to mention about the discount for G11i, but you should send an e-mail to Jeremy (jeremy@etowalk.com). He will send you the PayPal invoice with the discount. ;)/>

EDIT: I've spoken with Jeremy from Etotalk and they will accept my voucher code: bm-sreviews-special. You can apply to get 5 USD discount. It's not that much, but it's better than nothing.

No, it will be a different ROM because baseband will change. But don't worry, I will release the new custom ROM as soon as I have my G11i Pro.

What about the screen protector and leather case that etotalk offers with the phones - any good? What's your experience with protectors?

Honestly, I don't like screen protectors because there are always minor imperfections when looking into the display. By the time I bought HD9, I got an original leather case for HTC HD2. Always used it inside the case, so I had no scratches on the display.

My opinion is that you should look for the accessories on eBay or something like that, in order to know what you're really buying. I'm not saying that the accessories sold by Etotalk are not good, don't take me wrong... but you don't actually see any images of the product, do you?

I ordered a protector and leather case/sleeve, mostly because I was curious, like you. If you have the patience, I'll tell you what they're like when I receive them :)/>.

Thanks - I will wait until some people have one.

I'm also interested in the behavior of the phone if you have an 3G/EDGE connection open and somebody tries to call you.

The behaviour should be the same as HD958: data connection is dropped in order to receive the call (in both SIM cards) and is automatically re-established after the end of call.
